What exactly is Singles Golf of Rochester?

Singles Golf of Rochester ( SGR) is a club based in Rochester, New York.  We’re basically a bunch of people who are single (i.e. divorced, widowed, or never married), age 21 or older, who enjoy playing golf!  No need to be an expert at the game; many of us are beginners.  Because we are a fun, social golf group, our membership is made up of many different skill levels.  The only request we make is that you are familiar with golf etiquette and have played the game before.

So…we are all about having fun playing golf.  It’s that simple! 

Golf

The first thing to keep in mind is that we are not a league. During the season, we golf at least twice a month at a different golf course each time, and it is totally up to you how often you want to play. There are both 9-hole events and 18-hole events, suited to every skill level. As well as straight golf, we like to mix it up a bit by playing scrambles, best ball, scotches…all the fun ways to put a twist on the game.   Also, we know that playing with other singles will improve our game and give a needed kick to our social lives.

“Nine – and – Dine”   Every Friday evening, during the golf season, we meet after work for nine holes of golf, a drink at the bar and stay on for dinner. It’s a good way to unwind with friends after a tough week at work, and they are a ball. 

The off-season

During the off season, we have occasional monthly meetings and “ Happy Hour” events on Friday evenings with dinner to follow.  In addition, we have regular social gatherings; whether it’s a bus trip to the casino, an Amerks game, movie outings, wine tasting or a Super Bowl Party, we have a blast!
